Press and Leather Guidance

Flat, even pressure is the key to a clean impression; heat may assist but does not replace sufficient pressure. A hydraulic press rated at 10 tons or more is commonly recommended. For a long mold of this size, 10–15 tons is often more suitable, but the required pressure and final result depend on the leather, mold size, machine, and operating method.

How to Use the Repeatable Pattern

– Test the mold and pressure on scrap leather first.
– Lightly moisten or case the leather if appropriate for your material.
– Keep the leather, mold, and pressing surface flat and carefully aligned.
– When extending the border, align the next section before pressing to reduce visible breaks.
– Thinner leather may benefit from a suitable cushioning pad, but results can vary.
