Brass Dragon Claw & Yin Yang Keychain Hook

A solid brass EDC hook featuring my original dragon claw design combined with a Yin Yang / Taiji medallion and flame-inspired details.

This piece was designed by MenHandcraftStudio and batch-produced for me by a partner metalworking workshop.

Unlike my more expensive precision-machined pieces, this version is made using a brass casting process rather than CNC engraving or precision machining.

That makes it much more affordable while still giving it a strong three-dimensional shape, substantial feel and distinctive vintage character.

About This Design

The hook is shaped like a curved dragon claw with layered scale and texture details along the body.

A Yin Yang / Taiji motif is set into the lower section and surrounded by flame-like ornamentation, giving the piece a combination of traditional Eastern symbolism and rugged EDC styling.

The aged brass finish works especially well with denim, leather wallets, belts and other vintage-style accessories.

It can be used as both a practical key holder and a decorative metal accessory.

Why This Version Is More Affordable

This is a cast brass version.

It is NOT individually CNC carved or precision-machined from a solid block of metal.

Casting allows this design to be produced in small batches at a considerably lower cost, which is why I can offer it at a more accessible price.

The trade-off is that cast pieces do not have exactly the same sharpness, consistency or machining precision as a higher-priced CNC-machined piece.

If you are looking for perfectly uniform machining and extremely crisp mechanical edges, this version may not be the right choice.

If you prefer a solid brass piece with strong visual character, a substantial handmade-style appearance and a more affordable price, this version is a very good option.

What To Expect From A Cast Brass Piece

Because this item is produced by casting and then individually finished, slight differences are normal.

You may notice:

• Small surface pits or casting texture
• Slight differences in colour and patina
• Minor variations in edge definition
• Small polishing or finishing marks
• Slight differences in the depth or sharpness of fine details
• Small variations between individual pieces

These are characteristics of the production method rather than defects.

Please look closely at the listing photos before ordering.

The overall appearance remains highly detailed and visually striking, but it should not be compared with a precision CNC-machined metal part.

How I Like To Use It

The curved claw can be hooked onto a belt loop or similar suitable attachment point, while keys, a short chain or other lightweight accessories can be connected to the lower ring.

It pairs particularly well with denim and leather because the aged brass surface develops a natural vintage appearance over time.

It can also be used as a decorative connector for a wallet chain or handmade leather project.

Important — Not Safety Hardware

This is an EDC / keychain accessory.

It is NOT designed or tested for climbing, fall protection, rescue use, lifting, securing heavy loads or any other safety-critical application.

Do not use it as a climbing carabiner or load-bearing safety hook.

The claw tip is intentionally pointed as part of the design. Please take care when attaching it to delicate fabric or carrying it near items that may scratch easily.

Brass & Patina

Brass naturally changes colour with use and exposure to air, moisture and skin oils.

The surface may gradually darken or develop additional patina over time.

This is normal for brass and is part of the vintage character of the piece.

If you prefer a brighter finish, the surface can be gently polished with a suitable brass polishing product.

About Menhandcraftstudio

This piece is based on my original design.

For this particular brass version, I work with a partner metalworking workshop that produces the design for me in batches using a casting process.

I chose this production method to make the design available at a lower price than a precision CNC-machined version, while keeping the solid brass material, dimensional form and overall visual character of the original design.
